Abdulsalam Abdulghani,  Vice President of East Turkistan Australian Association, AUSTRALIA

Abdulsalam Abdulghani was born in 1973, Hotan, East Turkestan. He has completed his bacholar degree, and his masters in Shariah & Law (LL.B & LL.M Shariah & Law) in International Islamic University Islamabad, Pakistan. Mr. Abdulghani who is citizen of Australia, speaks Uzbek, Urdu, Arabic and English besides his mother tongue Uighur language. He gives the leactures on Quran, Arabic language, Islamic Studies and Religion (comperative study of religions) in Islamic Collage of South Australia. Mr. Abdulghani is also a religious leader (Imam), vice president of Islamic Society of South Australia and vice president of East Turkestan Australian Association.

Ahmet Emin Dag,  IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, TURKEY

Ahmet Emin Dag was born in 1970. He obtained BSc in Journalism at Marmara University, Istanbul. He completed his MA and PhD degrees in Political History and International Relations. Ahmet Emin Dag has published numerous researches, translations and articles about the Middle East. He has published a book called “Suriye: Bilad-i Şam’ın Hazin Öyküsü” Syria: Sad Story of Towns of Damascus)and translated several books like Jewish History, Jewish Religion: The Weight of Three Thousand Years (Israel Shahak), Jewish Fundamentalism in Israel (Israel Shahak and Norton Mezvinsky), America and Political Islam: Clash of Cultures or Clash of Interests (Fawaz Gerges). He is married with two children.

Ahmet Faruk Unsal, General President of MAZLUMDER, TURKEY

Ahmet Faruk Unsal was born in Diyarbakir, in 1963. He had his bachelor degree in mechenical engineering in Istanbul Technical University. He actively participated in organizations advocating human rights. He was assigned for Spokesman and Vise Chairman in Monitoring Human Rights Commitee. He was elected Member of Parliament to the Turklish Grand National Assembly in 2002. He has several published articles and researchers on political issues and human rights in various newspapers and journals. He was the representative of Turkey to NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Currently, he is a member of the Administrative Board in IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation and general president of Mazlum-Der Organization for Human Rights and Solidarity for Oppressed People. He is married with two children.

Prof. Dr. Alaeddin Yalcınkaya, Sakarya University, TURKEY

Prof. Dr. Alaeddin Yalçınkaya was born in 1961. He completed his bachelor degree in the department of Public Administration, Istanbul University. Then, at the same university, he also held his graduate degree and PhD by the thesis of “Turkestan, under the considiration of Panislamism-Colonialism, 1856-1922”.  Additionaly, he has one other doctorate study in the Department of Middle East Studies, New York University in USA. Mr. Yalçınkaya who worked in Directorate General of Prime Ministry State Archives as archivist between the years of 1987-1996, has been working as professor besides being head of International Relations’ Department in Sakarya University since 2007. He has been specilized on the disciplines of foreign policy, regional foreign policy, international law and international realitions, and gives lectures on these fields. Mr. Yalçınkaya has more than 10 books which are mainly on international relations and whose articles were published in many scientific journals, also presented statements in veriety national and international scientific meetings.

Prof. Dr. Alimcan Inayet, Ege University, TURKEY

Prof. Dr. Alimcan Inayet was born in Chatkal village of Turphan city, East Turkestan, 1962. When he was graduated from the Faculty of the Language and Literature of Minorities in Central Nations University, Beijing, China, then he worked as translator and redactor till 1989 in Nations Publications which is also in Beijing. Mr. Inayet have come to Turkey after 1989, and completed his graduate degree in the department of Turkish Language and Literature, Turkish Ethnology (Folklor), Institute of Social Science, Ege Univeristy in 1992, and also in 1995, he assumed his title of Doctor. Mr. Inayet was confered citizenship of Turkish Republic in 1994. He has been serving as professor in the Institute of Turchic World Studies, Ege Univerity since 2007. He is married with two children.

Ataullah Şahyar was born in 1966, Shaiar, East Turkestan. He has taken his bachelor degree alongwith his primary and secondary education in East Turkestan. He has completed his graduate degree in 1998 and his PhD in 2002, on the field of Hadith in Institute of Social Science, Marmara University. Mr. Şahyar who has been living in Turkey since 1995, is married with two children.

Atty. Cihat Gmkdemir was born in Sakarya, Turkey. He completed his BA degree in the Faculty of Law, Istanbul University. Mr. Gokdemir who has started to serve as freelance attorney since 1999, conducts the legal counselling and attorneyship of several eminent national and international institutions.  He holds the membership of executive board for some NGOs. Currently He serves as president of MAZLUMDER Istanbul Office.

Dr. Akram Hicazi, Researcher-Writer, JORDAN

Dr. Ekrem Hicazi was born in 1961, Irbit, Jordan. He is Paletsine origined Jordan citizen. He completed his BA degree in the department of Community Psychology and Sociology, Tunis University. Between the years of 2000-2005, He served as academic member in the Faculties of Sociology and Literature in Yemen. Besides his authorship and investigative journalism, he worked as director in social survey web site Al-Moraqeb. Mr. Hicazi who was granted the award for his journalism and communication sciences, is specialized on administration and organization of discovery camps and also on the fields of press and publication, editorship and the art of writing. Mr. Hicazi has some researches on the subjects of Social and Political movements. Currently he is spacializing on the phenomenon of Salafi Jihad in Islamic World. Since 2005, he has been wasting his time for scientific researches and writings about the problem of Islamic world. Alongside of his published articles, in many newspaper, academic and scientific journals, he also has several published researches, on the fields of sociology, diplomacy and law. Drç Ekrem Hicazi is married with five children.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Erkin Ekrem, Hacettepe University, TURKEY

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erkin Ekrem was born in 1964, Lanzhou, Gansu province of China. Mr. Ekrem who was graduated from faculty of medicine in China, 1986 had worked as a doctor in the department of orthopedy in a hospital since 1991. He completed his graduate degree in 1995, and his PhD in 2003 in the department of history, Hacette University. Between the years of 2006-2007, he served as assistant professor, and in 2008 assumed the title of Associate professor in the Graduate Institute of Central Asian Studies, Ching-Yun University, Taiwan. Mr. Ekrem has been working since 1999 in the department of history, Hacettepe University. He deals with the field of international relations as well as history studies.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Erkin Emet, Ankara University, TURKEY 

Dr. Erkin Emet was born in Kashgar city of East Turkestan in1962. He has completed his primary and higher education in Kashgar and his BA degree in the department of Uighur Language and Literature, Central Nations University in China-Beijing. In 1992, he started to serve as international expert acedemician in the department of Modern Turkic Dialects and Literatures, Ankara University. At the same university, Mr. Emet completed his graduate degree in the department of Turkish Language and Literature, Institute of Social Science, and his PhD by the thesis of “East turkestan Uighur Dialects”. Mr Emet who has presented variety kinds of notifications in several national and international scientific meetings, has many published books. Dr. Erkin Emet has been Turkish citizen since 1994.

Dru C. Gladney is President of the Pacific Basin Institute, and Professor of Anthropology at Pomona College. Gladney has held faculty positions and post-doctoral fellowships at Harvard University; the University of Southern California; Kings College, Cambridge; and the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton. Gladney is a frequent commentator on CNN and other news media. He is the author of four books and more than 50 academic articles and book chapters on topics spanning the Asian continent. Mr. Gladney’s most recent book is Dislocating China. Gladney’s publications have been translated into Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Arabic, Turkish and German. He has been a consultant to the Soros Foundation, Ford Foundation, World Bank, Getty Museum, Asian Development Bank, National Academy of Sciences, European Center for Conflict Prevention, U.N. Fahmi Howeidi, Journalist-Writer, EGYPT

Fahmi Howeidi was born in Gizah-Egypt, 1937. He completed his bachelor degree in the Faculty of Law in Cario University. Mr. Howeidi specialized on political thinking, contemporary Islam, Islam and the issue of Arab world. He has published books over 20, the basics are …. Mr. Howeidi also writes weekly articles for eight different newspapers in Arabic countries besides Egypt. He has variety of studies such as Islam in Soviet Union, Muslims in Western Africa, Resistance in Bosnia and Jewish of Islam. He is currently the member of General Secretary of International Arab Conference (Beirut), the executive board member of Modern Muslims (Cario), the board member of International Union for Muslim Scholars (Qatar). Besides his full time writing since 1985, Mr. Howeidi has been working since his young days in turn as Journalist for Al-Ahram newspaper (Egypt), as Editor for al-Arabi (Kuwait), as Vice Chairman of Publishing Commitee for Al-Arabiyyah magazine (USA). He have passed from Al-Ahram to Al-Shorouk newspaper where he is still carrying his writings.

Atty. Gulden Sonmez, IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, TURKEY

Atty. Gulden Sonmez was born in 1969, Sivas, Turkey. She completed her BA degree in the Faculty of Law, Marmara University. Between the years of 1989-95, Mrs. Sonmez who worked in IT departments of some privite institution, also served as a director for several companies. In the years of 1996-99 she worked as freelance attorney, and assigned in variety of commisions for MAZLUMDER (Human Rights and Solidarity Association for Oppressed People). In 1999, Mrs. Sonmez resigned her actual attorneyship and served as director for MAZLUMDER till 2004 when she started to work actively for IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation. Mrs. Sonmez who worked in national and international organizations in the field of human rights, has a published book, numerous reports and articles on human rights. She served voluntarily for many NGOs about associational law. Mrs. Sonmez currently holds the vice presidency of MAZLUMDER and executive membership of IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation.

Dr. Izzeddin el Wardani, Researcher, SAUDI ARABIA

Izzeddin Ahmed has completed his BA degree in the department of Pyschology, Zagazig University, 1985. He is certified by the Institute of Islamic Researches in1989, and by the Institute of Asian Researches in 1998. Mr. El-Wardani finished his graduate degree in 2002, by the thesis of “The Development of East Turkestan Issue between the years of 1760-1949” in the Institute of Asian Researches where he also completed his PhD in 2007, by the thesis of “East Turkestan under the mandate of Communist Chinese Government between the years of 1949-2002”.

Prof. Dr. Majida Mahluf, Ain Shams University, EGYPT

Majeda Mahluf was born in 1953, Egypt. She studied on Turkish Language and Researches and specialized on Modern Turkish History. In 1973, Mrs. Mahluf start to serve as an Assistant and in 1978 she assumed the title of Assistant Professor in 1983, Associate Professor in 1983 and Professor in 2001 in the department of Eastern Language and Researches, Ain Shams University. Mrs. Mahluf has been serving as head of Eastern Language and Researches department since 2006. She has tens of articles and scientific works in different subjects and published book translations over 20. Mrs Mahluf have participated to many national and international conferences.

Dr. Meryem Hakim (Kırımlı), İzmir University, TURKEY

Assist. Prof. Dr. Meryem Hakim Kırımlı completed her bachelor degree in the department of history, Hacettepe University, and her graduate degree in the same department, University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, and hold her PhD with the thesis of “The Origin of Kazak Nationalism and Independent Kazakhstan: A History of National Reactions Against to Soviet Russia Policies”. Mrs. Kırımlı who worked as research assistant in the department of International Relations, Bilkent University, and assistant professor in the department of International Trade, Çankaya University, is still working as assistant professor in the department of International Relations, İzmir University. She gave lectures of political science, international relations, history of civilizations, revolution history, the policy of Middle Asia and Caucasia, Russian policy and Kazakh language. Besides all these, Mrs. Kırımlı whose articles were published in many national and international journals, made speech in variety of international symposium and gave lectures. She can speak Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Turkoman and Tatar language besides English.

Seyit Tumturk, Vice President of World Uyghur Congress, TURKEY

Seyit Tümtürk was born in 1964, Kabil-Afghanistan. His family emigrated from East Turkestan to Afghanistan as the consequence of Chinese assimilation policies and tortures carried out after the Chinese occupation in 1949. Through the agency of UNHCR and the decision of Turkish Republic Council of Ministry, Mr. Tümtürk’s family and 360 East Turkestani people were settled as emigrants with housing in Kayseri, Turkey in 1965. He has completed his education in Kayseri. He is the founder member of East Turkestan Culture and Solidarity Association in 1989, Kayseri and East Turkestan National Congress in 1992, Istanbul. He had been elected as general president of East Turkestan Culture and Solidarity Association, and as charged member of Turkey for the establishment of World Uyghur Congress which is organized by 18 countries and 26 organizations, and known as the most compotent body in the field in 2002. Mr. Tümtürk, the member of the founders’ commitee of East Turkestan Maarip and Solidarity Association which is founded in 2005, Istanbul, is also served as a founder president of Turkey-Finland Culture and Friendship Association in 2006. He has been elected as vice president of World Uyghur Congress in 2006. Mr. Tümtürk, currently working in a public institution, is married with five children.

Sirajeddin Azizi Semseddin, SAUDI ARABIA

Sirojiddin Azizi Shemseddin was born in 1965, East Turkestan where he finished his primary and higher education. He completed his undergraduate degree in the department of Arabic Language, International Islamic University, Islamabad, Pakistan. Mr. Shemseddin has been working for 16 years as speaker and translator-interpreter in the Turkestan part of Radio Saudi Arbia. Besides his several book translations, he has many published article translations in Arabic journals about the case of Muslim East Turkestani people. Mr. Shemseddin who speak Arabic, English, Turkish, Urdu and Uyghur languages, is married with four children.

Tseten Samdup Chhoekyapa, Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, GENEVA

Tseten Samdup Chhoekyapa is the Representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama based in Geneva, Switzerland. He was born in a Tibetan refugee camp in Nepal when his parents escaped from Tibet in 1959. He has lived in Nepal, India, USA, England and Switzerland.

He graduated from School of Journalism University of Columbia in New York in 1991.
From 1985 to 2000, he worked for the Tibetan Government in exile starting in Dharamsala,
India and then in London. From 2000 to 2007, he was a marketing manager at the mobile phone company in London.
In March 2008, he was appointed as His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Representative.

Dr. Yang Jianli, President of Initiatives for China, USA  

Dr. Yang Jianli was born in Shandong Province in northern China and graduated from Beijing Normal University at the age of 20. While he was a rising star in the Chinese Communist Party, Jianli quickly became disenchanted by the corruption and duplicity he witnessed in the communist system. He left China to pursue a career in Mathematics at U.C. Berkeley. In 1989, at the age of 26, he went to Beijing in support of their counterparts in China who were demonstrating for democracy in Tiananmen Square. He arrived in time to witness the massacre of thousands by the guns and tanks of the Chinese army. He narrowly escaped capture and returned to the United States himself to studying democracy. In 2002, after completing his Doctorate in Political Economy at Harvard, Dr. Yang returned to study the growing labor unrest in northern China. He was arrested and sentenced to five years imprisonment for “spying”.Dr. Yang who was freed in April of 2007, is married with two children.
